Wilson County’s highway network has attracted the attention of the industrial and service sectors which fill the needs of its growing community. The county offers direct east and west service through Interstate-40, which connects Memphis, Tennessee to the west and Knoxville, Tennessee to the east. Six existing interchanges provide access to Interstate-40, in addition to its Beckwith Road interchange scheduled for completion in 2007. State Route 840 connects I-40 to I-24, I-65 and I-40.
Wilson County is within 650 miles of 50% of the United States population. Its central location is also within one day trucking distance to 75% of the United States markets. It sits at the heart of Nashville Tennessee transportation service area which was named by Expansion Management magazine in 2004 as one of the “Top 100 Most Logistic Friendly Cities” in the United States.
LOCATION
Located on Interstate 40, Wilson County sits just east of Nashville, Tennessee, whose metropolitan area was recently named “Hottest City” for business expansion and relocation by “Expansion Management Magazine.” Wilson County is located only minutes from the Nashville International Airport. The Lebanon Municipal Airport also provides corporate and general aviation services to the community and its corporate members.
Mt. Juliet has been Wilson County’s fastest growing community. Mt. Juliet added over one million square feet of new retail and commercial space in 2005. Also included was the addition of the first multi-story office/medical facility. An additional one million square feet of new retail space is on line during 2006. The two other major cities in Wilson County are Lebanon, which is its largest city and county seat, and Watertown, which is the community’s center of cultural events and rural uniqueness. Residents can choose from rural or suburban lifestyles thanks to its quality of life and through its excellent road network. Residents of the Wilson County community are connected through six existing and one planned interstate interchanges by SR 840 to I-24, I-65 and I-40.
Wilson County also provides rail service for industrial customers through the Nashville and Eastern Railroad Authority. Rail service for commuters is set to begin in September 2006 aboard the Music City Star.
